Based in previous findings, six models were tested using confirmatory factor analysis. None of these models showed adequate goodness of fit to the data. To improve the psychometric properties, a new version is proposed. Several exploratory factor analyses were performed. The results of these analyses showed a 3 factor solution conformed by: (a) Autonomy; (b) Positive relationships and; (c) Competence. This version exhibited better internal consistency coefficients and a good fit to the data.

Se utilizó la versión desarrollada por van Dierendonck (2005) de 39 ítems y la versión reducida de Díaz et al. (2006) de 29 ítems. Participaron 396 estudiantes residentes en Buenos Aires. En primer lugar, se procedió a poner a prueba los modelos explicativos de la estructura factorial de las escalas sugeridos en los estudios previos. Dado que ninguno de estos modelos mostró un nivel de ajuste satisfactorio, se realizaron a continuación varios análisis factoriales exploratorios hasta arribar a una solución factorial de tres factores: (a) Autonomía, (b) Relaciones positivas con otros, y (c) Competencia.
