Description
Summary:Structural integrity of bridges are affected by age and by traffic. Structural monitoring systems that can detect the presence or the possibility of damage can provide useful information on the when to conduct maintenance and repair. The vibrational frequencies of sixteen concrete bridges in Panamá were monitored using inexpensive sensors assembled from Arduino plates. The results of the study indicate a strong correlation between bridge length and period of vibration which was independent of the type of beams used in construction. Additional study was made on the few bridges which did not follow this pattern
