Knowledge management is described in terms of four variables, knowledge generation, dissemination, shared interpretation and ability to respond. The study analyzes the effect that these variables have on the quality of the operations. Knowledge generation, dissemination and ability to respond are found to be strongly linked, but interpretation and ability to respond are found to be not strongly linked
