| Sumario: | This paper analyses the fictional miniseries "Entre hombres" (Pablo Fendrik, 2021), a collaborative effort between Polka Productions and HBO Max. It explores the series’ connections to other cultural shows, the dialogue it establishes within the crime genre, and how it employs the conventions and narrative strategies inherent to it. The primary focus is on the ties this serialised storytelling form shares with its literary source and how it visually portrays a decaying reality through stylization and grotesque aesthetics. The release of this fiction piece is set against a backdrop characterized by the rise of new production methods and business models linked to the dominance of streaming platforms. In this context, specific issues of the Argentine audiovisual industry, such as regulation and safeguarding of local content production, are addressed in light of the current technological, economic, and cultural landscape. |
