The expedient of resorting to the use of the greatepiploon (G.E.) for the purpose offilling hepatic cavitiesof traumatic origin, is a wellknown technique. The richvascularization and the increase of macrophage flowto the focus are held to be factors preventing theformation of secondary abscesses.
