The recording instrument allows individualizing the nursing care in a holistic way, allowing the use of a common language to improve the communication between professionals, to avoid errors and omissions in writing, to facilitate risk management and making the care management visible. Furthermore, it constitutes a tool for research and it enriches the nursing discipline. |

Es necesario ser conscientes de la importancia de contar con registros de buena calidad en el proceso de atención, así como de las diferentes repercusiones legales de los mismos. El problema que guió este trabajo fue la falta de registros en Enfermería, lo cual generaba inconvenientes en la comunicación del equipo de salud. El estudio se llevó a cabo en el área pediátrica de un hospital de referencia nacional, mediante la implementación de una planilla de registro y la medición de la calidad del llenado del registro. El estudio se realizó en el período del 30 de marzo al 31 de mayo del 2011. En la historia clínica no existía un espacio ni una sección propia para los registros de la actividad de Enfermería. La normalización permite el entendimiento de los fenómenos que ocurren en los usuarios cuando se encuentran en el proceso de atención. Es importante contar con registros de Enfermería, adaptados a los diferentes servicios e instituciones, pudiendo ser en formato papel o electrónico. El instrumento de registro permite individualizar en forma holística el cuidado de Enfermería, favorecer el uso de un lenguaje común facilitando la comunicación interprofesional, evitar errores y omisiones de escritura y realizar la gestión de riesgo, haciendo visible la gestión del cuidado.
