Summary:This note describes the sound production by a stranded humpback whale off the coast of Uruguay (35° S) in the Rio de la Plata estuary. No previous study of humpback whale sounds in Uruguayan waters exists, potentially due to the open sea habitat of Uruguay and the even rarer occurrence of a stranding. Herein, we present the results of an analysis of sounds recorded from a stranded humpback whale until it died.
