সংক্ষিপ্ত:The article characterizes the news treatment of the candidates’ image of the 2019 presidential election in Argentina, based on analyzing: the contenders mentioned in the news coverage, the particular characteristics highlighted, the associated evaluative elements and the treatment assigned to each electoral force. The study recovers, as a theoretical foundation, the contributions of the agenda setting theory and, as a research technique, the content analysis on a sample of 275 journalistic articles of the universe collected corresponding to the three most read digital portals in Argentina: Infobae, Clarín and La Nación. In the results, it is stated that the informative treatment focuses its attention on the agenda of activities of the presidential candidates. Regarding the assigned attributes, greater characterizations are presented around ideology and management qualification than those referred to ethical behavior or personality aspects, although they are presented with dissimilar valuations among the candidates. Consequently, an unequal presence of candidates from different political forces is recognized, which reinforces an unequal tendency towards polarization and presidential coverage.
