Description
Summary:The high morbility rate of cava ligature has lead to research on methods for the interruption of embolism which do not require stoppage of venous flow. These plicature procedure affecting the vena cava have proved effective due to their reduced mortality and morbility rates and are more frequently employed at present than ligatures.Sone patient, develop thrombosis below the filter, but this ody leaves them in the situation they would have been in, had a ligature of the cava been performed. Even in this case, there is the possibility that the obstruction rechannelize, as has been proved in other venous areas. This contingency is rendered practically impossible in the case of total interruption. The paper contains an account of the first clinical observations of cases in which this procedure was employed in our country. Immediate results seem satisfactory.
