| Résumé: | Painting with custom scenes made by José Agustín Arrieta didn’t limit to show a documentary perspective. “Tertulia de pulquería” is presented as an example of a visual construct, that opens the possibility to be understood through the daily process of look the “dangerous class”. The present paper will analyze Arrieta’s painting from a significant element: the ephemeral and “inmoral” press of Puebla in 1851 and the way it linked with the “dangerous class”. The work will propose a political and social interpretation to “Tertulia de pulquería” to know the circumstances in which the painter executed the artwork. The depicted newspapers are fundamental parts that propose a negative point of view in which the artist took a distance and denounced a discomfort happened in 1851 in Puebla. The article emphasizes on the importance of search and analysis of the primary sources obtained in local archives and newspapers archives. |
