| description | This text aims to rescue and evaluate the Mexican Silent Film´s chronicles published by Elena Sánchez Valenzuela between 1919 and 1929. It does so through an historiographic perspective and as a first approach to the women´s history and the film culture that led to the readers of the newspapers in the Mexican capital of these years. To the women´s history, because the particular case of Sánchez Valenzuela is linked to a career attached to a society in which a patriarchal ideology prevailed. To the silent Mexican´s film history, because it points on the cinema conception as art, spectacle and cultural industry, and to the culture film for better knowing if Sánchez Valenzuela´s work as a cinema chronicler contributed to the audience’s better appreciation of cinema. As a method, this work uses documental research and content analysis. |

As a method, this work uses documental research and content analysis.El objetivo de este artículo es rescatar y evaluar la crónica del cine silente mexicano que publicó Elena Sánchez Valenzuela entre 1919 y 1929, desde una visión historiográfica y como un primer acercamiento a la historia de las mujeres y a la cultura fílmica que derivó en los lectores de los diarios de la capital mexicana de estos años. A la historia de las mujeres, porque el caso particular de Sánchez Valenzuela se vincula a una trayectoria profesional adscrita a una sociedad en la que prevalecía una ideología patriarcal. A la historia del cine silente mexicano, porque apunta sobre la concepción que se tenía del cine como arte, espectáculo e industria cultural, y a la cultura fílmica para indagar si el trabajo de Sánchez Valenzuela contribuyó a que el público tuviera una mejor apreciación del cine.
