Se plantea que la dimensión ética de estos cuidados se puede comprender mejor desde la noción del reconocimiento del otro desarrollada por el filósofo alemán Axel Honneth. Para ello se presentan y analizan las tres esferas básicas de reconocimiento intersubjetivo propuestas por Honneth como marco interpretativo de las condiciones ideales de dignidad que asociamos a un “buen morir”. O artigo busca ajudar na compreensão ético-filosófica dos cuidados paliativos na etapa final da vida, como um momento de reconhecimento do outro. A dimensão ética, presente nestes cuidados, pode ser mais bem compreendida a partir da noção de reconhecimento do outro desenvolvida pelo filósofo alemão Axel Honneth.
