TIte average oí post-operative survivaL was 15 months.Diecinueve canceres de los tercios medio (11) e inferior (8) del esófago, fueron tratados por esofagogastreetomía proximal (17 casos) o esofagogastrectomia total (2 casos). En una sola observación se realizó r'adioterapia preoperatoria. La operación se consideró pretendidamente curativa en g casos )' seguramen~ paliativa en los 11 restantes. La restauración del tránsito se efectuó 17 veces por ascenso gástñco y mediante anastomosis esofagoyeyunal I en las otras 2 observaciones.
