El trabajo aborda las transformaciones del mundo periodístico en el periodo y la modernización de las revistas culturales, asociadas a una nueva generación de intelectuales y artistas. Desde la perspectiva de la historia cultural de la guerra, se analizan las representaciones del pasado bélico y sus usos por parte del nacionalismo chileno expresados en las páginas de las revistas culturales a través de las biografías, cuentos, crónicas, testimonios, poemas e ilustraciones.Este artigo examina as representações literárias e visuais da Guerra do Pacífico (1879-1884) nas revistas culturais chilenas publicadas entre 1898 e 1912. A obra aborda as transformações do mundo jornalístico no período e a modernização das revistas culturais, associadas a uma nova geração de intelectuais e artistas. Do ponto de vista da história cultural da guerra são analisadas as representações do passado guerreiro e seus usos pelo nacionalismo chileno expresso nas páginas das revistas culturais por meio de biografias, contos, crônicas, testemunhos, poemas e ilustrações.Universidad de Montevideo.
