The average survival oC the intubated patients was 8 months, ,vith an operative mortality oI 6.8 ';~ . The di!ferent tretament adopted for the tumors oí low and high csophagus are dcfined. with a brief discussion about tbe surgical techniques \Ised. |

R-ealiZÓ, 287 resecciones bajas, U7 altas, 58 derivaciones esófago-fúndieas y 107 intubaciones paliativas. Los 118 pacientes restantes se consideraron intratable'), De las 18.2 resecciones realizadas en el quinquenio 1967-1972, sobrevivían' 57% a los 2 afias y 10 % a los 5 años.
