The presentation of the band and its consequences marked a break point in the history of rock in Uruguay. The political tensions that preceded the performance, the rock youngsters’ stigmatizing characterization by the press, and the discussion of conceptions about rock and punk rock as a social and cultural phenomenon allow to analyze the uncertainty about what might or might not be said publicly in the new democracy. |
