A disciple of Umberto Eco, he vindicates his craft like a Knight Templar. “The contribution of semiotics, whether explicit or not, accepted or rejected, has been irreversible in communication studies”, he asserts sternly, since “it studies coding and decoding phenomena. This process is the core of information theory, even if it discards the problem of meaning. Furthermore we reflect on how interpretation is performed.” This interview delves into that we, the relationship with other social sciences, the multiplicity of “objects” of study and the importance of time as a structure of shared meanings, among other subjects, only a few months after his presentation at the Faculty for Human Sciences of the Catholic University.
