| Summary: | The purpose of this article is to outline the semantic and reflective construction of America and the republican ideal in the Revista del Nuevo Mundo. The concepts «America» and «republic» are immersed in a process of ideologization that outlines a «horizon of expectation» that is reflected in a semantics related to freedom, organization, nationality, justice, and sovereignty. This political vocabulary is part of the ideology of Francisco Bilbao, founder of the magazine.
