Summary:An experiment was developed to calibrate a humidity sensor, managed by source in ARDUINO, in order to identify conditions minimum and maximum humidity in the substrate of commercial coconut, to process the information and by logic open or close a solenoid valve that controls the flow of water in an irrigation system. The values obtained with sensor processing related to a State of humidity of the substrate, from saturation to condition dry, being these percentage values indicative of the moisture level of the sample. 10 levels of known humidity and two treatments were established: without homogenizing of the substrate (T2) andhomogenize (T1). Using basic statistics is observed that there is less dispersion of the data if the substrate is homogenized, which is indicative of the importance of the location of the sensor in the substrate under field conditions.
